Indonesian travellers are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of travel insurance when going abroad.
Jakarta, 20 November 2025 - Oona Insurance Indonesia is seeing a surge in demand for international travel protection as more Indonesians plan year-end holidays abroad. The rise reflects a growing awareness of the need for reliable, comprehensive coverage, not just the cheapest option, when traveling overseas.
Oona Insurance Indonesia has recorded a more than 400% increase in travel insurance purchases year-to-date (January–October 2025) compared to the same period in 2024. Meanwhile, data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in July 2025 shows a year-on-year decline of 5.24% in outbound travel by Indonesian residents compared to July 2024. This indicates that even as international travel shows a downward trend, more Indonesians are prioritizing reliable protection against unforeseen risks when traveling abroad.
Top destinations driving this surge include Europe (Schengen countries), Japan, Singapore, and Malaysia, where Oona’s products are tailored to meet local and international requirements.
Oona’s International Travel Insurance covers key travel concerns such as emergency medical expenses, flight delays, baggage loss, and trip cancellations, helping travelers enjoy worry-free holidays. Through its partnership with VFS Global, travelers applying for a Schengen visa can also purchase compliant insurance directly at visa centers which makes the process faster and easier.
“As we head into the peak holiday season, our goal is simple; to help Indonesians travel with confidence,” said Prashant Shetty, Chief of Marketing Officer Oona Insurance Indonesia. “We want customers to focus on experiences, not worries. Reliable protection makes all the difference.” Prashant concluded
